Free Local Summer Reading Programs

By Amy Barnett, Publisher Mom for Macaroni Kid Madison, MS May 31, 2019

Did you know that starting in kindergarten, if a student reads 20 minutes a day at home, they will hear 1.8 million words per year. They will have read for 851 hours by 6th grade and on standardized tests, they will likely score better than 90% of their peers? With those statistics one of the most important things we as parents can do is continue to encourage our children to read. Reading opens up so many doors and summer can be a great time to take your kids to the library to get their library card.

I have compiled a list of FREE summer reading programs that reward your kiddos for reading all summer!
